Optimization Software Available for Final Projects

Xpress-MP, an advanced optimization software, is now available to be used for final projects. This software, developed by Dash Optimization, one of the world's leading companies in optimization technologies, integrates a powerful high-level modeling language with a wide range of optimization solvers. It enables the user to efficiently build and solve the following types of mathematical programming models:

  • linear programming problems (LP);
  • mixed integer programming problems (MIP);
  • quadratic programming problems (QP);
  • mixed integer quadratic programming problems (MIQP);
  • non-linear programming problems (NLP);
  • mixed integer non-linear programming problems (MINLP).
  • More details of Xpress-MP can be found on the website of Dash Optimization. You may find this software very useful if your final project involves building and solving large-scale optimization models, for example, if your project involves flux balance analysis (FBA).

    There are two versions of Xpress-MP you can use.
    (a) The student version with restricted capacity/functionality. You can download it from here.
    (b) The full version. This is available on an HMS linux server and a Windows PC in the Church Lab. Please contact Xiaoxia (Nina) Lin (xiaoxia@genetics.med.harvard.edu) if you want to use the full version.
