Lecture Videos

The Instructional Computing Group (ICG) at Harvard is providing Chem 27 with digitized versions of the course lectures delivered by Prof. Shair. These lectures will be made available to students over the internal Harvard network. The goals of this service are to provide an easily accessible backup should students miss a lecture through illness or other conflicts, and to provide students with the opportunity to "revisit" lectures after they have attended the lectures themselves. Instructions for viewing the lectures and the lectures themselves can be found via the link below.

Spring 2006 Lectures

Mechanism Standardization

The purpose of standardizing mechanisms taught in this course is to ensure that every student in the course knows what is expected when asked to draw a mechanism. Only a selection of mechanisms that are less straight forward would be standardized. All mechanisms taught in this course are equally important, and this selection listed here DOES NOT make them more important than those not listed.

Protonation/Deprotonation guidelines
Edman degradation and Cyanogen bromide chemistry
DCC Amide Coupling
Serine and Aspartyl Proteases
DHQ Synthase
PLP Transimination
