With superb library holdings in Celtic, an internationally distinguished faculty, opportunities for studying Celtic languages in their home countries, possibilities for interdisciplinary study, and a lively program of conferences, lectures and publications, Harvard’s renowned Department of Celtic Languages and Literatures, the only Celtic department in the United States, is the ideal setting for Celtic studies.
A student of Celtic at Harvard might have a primary interest in literature, history, linguistics, or folklore, but the department encourages an approach that explores all of these approaches to the study of the Celtic-speaking peoples and their cultures.
The department offers instruction and opportunities for research in a graduate program leading to the PhD and as an undergraduate secondary field.
