A workshop organized by the Joint Center for History and Economics will be held in Harvard on April 24-25, 2014. The workshop is part of the program on the global history of energy, supported by the Harvard University Center for the Environment and will bring together scholars working on the history of transportation in modern Asia. Sunil Amrith, Birkbeck, University of London, and an Associate Research Fellow of the Centre since 2006, has been awarded a European Research Council grant for his new project, Coastal Frontiers: Water, Power, and the Boundaries of South Asia, which will be undertaken from 2012 to 2017.
